Donald Trump Doubles Down on Promise to Bar Muslim Immigrants and Build U.S.-Mexico Border Wall in First TV Campaign Ad
Most of the comments below are from stupid people who don't understand what is currently going on nor the history of the United States.
FDR (that's Franklin Delano Roosevelt) a DEMOCRAT, restricted immigration into America during his presidency (1932-until his death in office 1945) mainly due to two factors:
1) the economic depression
AND
2) the risk of those wanting to do harm (for example spies).
Because of the depression, immigration was limited unless that person had secured a job PRIOR to coming to the US. Too many immigrants meant they would be living off the government (ring a bell anyone?) and that would have been the collapse of America.
Also, many fleeing Germany in particular still had family in that country which were used as "incentive" to make people spies. (History has proven this fact.)
Jimmy Carter, a DEMOCRAT, in 1979 signed an executive order requiring 50,000 Iranian students to report to immigration. This executive order came about due to the Iranian Hostage Crisis (look it up). Ultimately, 15,000 Iranian students voluntarily left or were forced to leave the US. Furthermore, all visas issued to Iranians for entry into the US were cancelled unless revalidated for "compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest requires."
Throughout history, there have been numerous limitations to immigrants of which this information can be found by searching for History of US Immigration Reform. Again, look it up and get educated.
ULTIMATELY, the purpose for any TEMPORARY SHUTDOWN of Muslims coming into the US or building a wall at the Mexico border as Trump is calling for is for OUR NATION'S SECURITY.
And that means for you and your loved ones' security. Maybe that's not important to you, but it is to me.
